Obituary for Lawrence Hugh Taft Sr.

Lawrence H. Taft, Sr., 91, of Lancaster, Virginia died on April 14, 2014. He was a World War II Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lottie P. Taft, his children, Lawrence H. Taft, Jr. and his wife Joyce, Louise Brocklebank, Gene Taft, Sandra Kellum and her husband, Warren, Tony Taft and his wife, Kathy, Paige Bedell and her husband, Mike; 12 grandchildren;15 great grandchildren and five stepchildren, Gloria Abbott, Bernard Anthony, Jr., Diana Lowery, Larry Anthony and Drena Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Revere Taft; his sisters, Melva Coleman and Irene Clegg; his brothers, Sam Taft and Ernest Taft and his beloved dog, Whimpy.

Lawrence was a hardworking man with 44 years of service when he retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The family would like to thank Mary Clegg for her kindness and support during Lawrence's illness.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p. m. Thursday, April 17 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Alfonso.
