Obituary for Carter Marsh

Ann Carter Marsh passed away December 2, 2019. She was taken from us much too soon at the age of 62. Carter grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland, the daughter of Ann Carter Lee and David Monroe Marsh, granddaughter of William Golden Carter and Margaret Hoffman Carter and Dorothy Dennis Marsh. She attended the Potomac and Madeira Schools as well as Sweet Briar College. Carter had a career in real estate in the DC area before moving to Richmond in 1983. Carter later moved to White Stone where she lived until her death. She loved being by the water and getting to know the wonderful people of the Northern Neck.

Carter embraced life with laughter and humor. She had never met anyone she couldn't talk to, and if you had a dog, she would remember their name and favorite treat. Her devotion and commitment to the Animal Welfare League was unflagging. Her friends will remember her for her generous nature, her love of music and her infectious smile . We are sure that she and Ann Carter Lee are browsing heavenly antiquities at this very moment.

Carter leaves behind her beloved family, Kate Marsh Lewis (Tom) , William Lewis (Lisa), Abigail Lewis (Lindsey), Nathalie, Teddy, Juniper, Mia and Isabel, and companion with an active wagging tail, Jasmine.

In honor of Carter's memory donations can be made to the Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck, the Lancaster Rescue Squad or Northern Neck Partners for Pets.

A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 p. m. Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Historic Christ Church Burying Ground. A reception will follow at The Bayne Center.
