Obituary for Charles Lawrence "Chuck" Griffith

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles “Chuck” Griffith announces his passing after a brief illness at his home in Reedville surrounded by his family, on Saturday June 29th, 2019, at the age of 67. Chuck will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Helen Johnson Griffith, their children Amy and her husband Ryan Wilson, Eddie Griffith, Chuck’s sister, Kay Kirk, brothers, James, Donald, Jerry and Harold Griffith and half brothers, Don, Dave and Dan Conn. He is preceded in death by his father, James Lewis Griffith and mother Dorothy (Griffith) Conn. Chuck was born on October 30th, 1951 in Steubenville Ohio. Chuck grew up in Bergholz Ohio and was a 1969 graduate of Springfield High School. Chuck worked as a coal miner for 23 years, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for 5 years. In his spare time and on weekends, he auctioneered, sold real estate with Middle Bay Realty, member of The Masonic Lodge in Ohio and Virginia and many years of construction. He met the love of his life when he was 14 years old and was determined to marry Helen. In 1971, he did just that. In 1999, Chuck and his family relocated to Fredericksburg VA where he worked in the construction industry. Then in 2008 he built a retirement house in Reedville, VA. This would end up being his “happy place” where he enjoyed watching the sun rise and set on the Chesapeake Bay.

There will be a celebration of life in Reedville, Va at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Civic Club on August 3, 2019 from 1-4pm.

In addition, there will be a celebration of life in East Springfield, Ohio on September 14, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. at The Countryside (Ohio Catering).
