Obituary for Janet Pittman "Sis" Ransone
LANCASTER - Janet Pittman Ransone, 91, of Lively was born January 6, 1928 in Lancaster and died March 9, 2019 in Irvington.
Everyone knew her as "Sis". She was a lifetime member of Norwood Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her favorite things in life were her church, family, friends and her garden.
Sis spent many hours helping at the Lively Printshop, teaching swim lessons at the Upper Lancaster Ruritan Center and enjoying bowling in Kilmarnock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle and Willard Pittman Sr., her husband, Francis G. Ransone and her brothers W.R. Pittman Jr. and Dorsey Pittman.
She is survived by her children Andy (Carol) of Lancaster, Cecil (Alice) of Aylett and Holly Pleasants (Richard) of Crozet; grandchildren Terri Self (Brent), Erin Mcilwee (Aaron), Phillip Ransone (Lisa) and Ketner Pleasants and great grandchildren Landon, Pepperlyn, Warner and Rorianne.
Visitation will be at Currie Funeral Home on Monday March 11 from 5-7. The funeral will be at Currie Funeral Home on Tues March 12 at 2:00 pm. with interment at St. Mary's Whitechapel Episcopal Church, Lively. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Dr. Megan Limburg and Rev. Carlton Milstead.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association, P O Box 96011, Washington D. C., 20090-6011.
