Obituary

LILA MAE JENKINS ROSE, 94, of White Stone, Virginia passed from this life on Thursday, December 13, 2018
Lila was born on July 17, 1924 in Ocran, Virginia to Daniel and Miscal Jenkins, the youngest of 9 children. She married Ray Rose on December 8, 1943. He passed away in 1979. During her life she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She truly enjoyed family gatherings and a highlight in her golden years was a Family Reunion in 2009 at Lynhams, the historic home in Northumberland County where the family lived in the 1920s. She retired as a Division Secretary, Dept of Army Transportation in Fort Eustace. She later obtained her Realtors License and worked as a Realtor and also was secretary for White Stone Methodist Church until she was 83 years young.
Lila was blessed with the gift of music. She shared her musical talents playing the organ and piano and directed the choir at churches in the Kilmarnock and White Stone area, as well as Imperial Plaza in Richmond VA. Lila was a poet and writer and her poems and prose were published frequently in the Rappahannock Record and Our Western World’s Greatest Poems.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband Ray Rose; her son Danny Ray Rose; her granddaughter Crystal Rose; as well as her parents, eight siblings Dorris Sanford, Wilmer Jenkins, Gleniss Crowther, Oleta Havelock, Elva Potter, Mavis Haynie, Daniel C. Jenkins, and Aura Faye Hicks, and her very dearest friend Rev. George Reynolds whom she met at Imperial Plaza.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 visitation at 10 am and service to follow at 11 am, White Stone Methodist Church. Interment will take place in the White Stone Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kilmarnock Seventh-Day Adventist Church, her childhood church, P. O. Box 1024, Kilmarnock, VA 22482 or the White Stone Methodist Church, P. O. Box 185, White Stone, VA 22578.

Mrs. Lila will surly be missed, I hope that you all can draw hope and comfort from scriptures such as Acts 24:15 and Revelation 21:4 where we have the glorious hope of a future where our loved ones can be resurrected and live in peaceful conditions and in good health. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and may Jehovah give you the strength you need to endure this difficult time.

To the family of Lila Mae: My deepest sympathies on the passing of Miss Lila. I grew up in White Stone Methodist and then returned for a number of years in my later adult life. Miss Lila always had a smile and encouraged young people in music. She and my Mom, Edwinetta Miller, were dear friends. I have no doubt that Miss Lila is with all of her loving family and friends in heaven and participating in the most beautiful choir of all -- God's Angels. May your loving and fun-filled memories fill the days ahead.
