MORCHOWER, Michael. 79, died June 9, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill
Morchower and and Ruth Leyner Morchower, and also his beautiful son, Randolph Lee
Morchower. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, his son, Michael Todd Morchower (Sarah), and
his grand daughter, Malone O’Brian Morchower. Michael was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, on
April 10, 1940. He moved to Richmond to attend University of Richmond on a basketball
scholarship, B.A. 1962. He then graduated T.C. Williams School of Law, LL.B., 1965. He made
both Richmond and Irvington his home for many years. Michael served as an FBI agent from

I was reminiscing with a friend and talking about the great times with Mr. Morchower. I worked for him at his restaurant, Champions. We had such great times. I will never forget him asking me to leave work and go with his son, Randy to a concert next door with MC Hammer. We had the best night! I am sorry to see that Randy has passed. It has been many years! Such great people, as I knew back then. May they both RIP. Great hearts!!

I don’t recall the exact date we first met Michael and Kathy, but it wasn’t too long after we moved to Irvington from East Hampton, NY in November, 2003. My husband, Chris and Mike immediately hit it off because they were both from NJ, a rare occurrence on the Northern Neck of VA - it seemed everyone we met was 3rd or 4th generation Virginian. He was tall and larger than life. He was the life of the party at a Christmas Open House we held at our home in 2004. And who can forget the terrific surprise party Kathy threw him for his 65th birthday at the White Stone Event Center! I was one of the first people to buy his book and read it cover to cover in one afternoon. It sits on our library shelf in Irvington where our guests can enjoy it and learn about the one and only Magic Mike. He will be missed. Our deepest condolences to Kathy and the rest of his family.

Michael Morchower's, "Magic Mike", ability to engage with people of all levels regardless of status, was one of his greatest assets. Meeting him in the office or on the street, he was always engaging, friendly and professional. May peace and comfort rest upon the family at this time.

I was sorry to read about the passing of Mike Morchower. He was a huge figure in Richmond.

During the late 1960's and early 1970's, I was a student of his when he taught law in the criminal justice program at Virginia Commonwealth University. He was an interesting person and we got along well. Frequently we talked after classes and after graduation I would also see him at distant places around the state. Our last encounter was at the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Wishing his family well and peace to Mike.
