Norma Jean Dryden Fitchett, 81, of White Stone, Va., went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2019. She was born April 30, 1938 in Weems, Va. She was the daughter of the late Harry F. "Buddy" and Ohna H. Dryden of Weems, Va. She lived as a child in Weems, Va. and later in Irvington, Va. She was the sole graduate of White Stone School's Class of 1956, excelling in both academics and athletics.

Norma married William Madison Fitchett, Sr. in 1958 and was with her soul mate for over 62 years. They had three children, William Madison "Billy" Fitchett, Jr. (JoAnne), Larry Wayne Fitchett (Cindy) and Paula Jean Owens (Kent); and her grandchildren, Matt and Madison Owens. She is also survived by her sister, Judy D. Gossip (Jim) and brother, James Ray "Jimmy" Dryden. Norma was preceded in death by her brother, Sherwood F. "Jack" Dryden.

Norma was an active member of White Stone Baptist Church and was very close to her church family. She enjoyed singing in the choir there for many years. Norma enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking many delicious meals and she was the consummate hostess. She never knew a stranger.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m. Sunday, December 15, 2019 at White Stone Baptist Church, White Stone, Va. Interment will follow the service at White Stone United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
