Obituary for Rachel Thompson Botting

Rachel Botting, 83, of Weems, VA, passed away peacefully in her home on Dec 20, 2019. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of over 30 years, and the love of her life, Wesley Ray Botting. Following her wish to be cremated, her remains will be interred next to his at Campbell Memorial Cemetery in Weems. She is survived by loving family members, including her sisters Maureen and Caroline, brothers John and Matt, numerous nieces and nephews, special niece Michelle, and special niece Jessica, as well as a network of faithful friends who became adopted family as they loved and cared for her over the years.
Rachel was a lifelong Catholic, and her strong faith both sustained and comforted her throughout her life. While living in Weems, she was blessed to be part of two church families, including Church of the Visitation in Topping,VA, and more recently, St Frances DeSales Catholic Church in Kilmarnock, VA. Special thanks to members of both churches for their acts of kindness to Rachel over the years, and to members of St Frances DeSales who visited and brought her the Eucharist each week after she was no longer able to attend services. Special thanks also to Dr Kevin McGrath, whom she saw as her doctor and trusted as her friend. And to Nurse Julia and Hospice of Virginia, for their care and support in helping Rachel achieve her last wish to remain in the home she loved and shared with her husband Ray. A memorial service will be announced later. It will be officiated by Ray and Rachel's very special, longtime friend, Fr Amaldoss Gg, of St Jocham Catholic Church of Marrero, LA
