William “Bill” L. Mayo
William “Bill” Lavern Mayo, 90 of Kilmarnock, VA died peacefully in his sleep on 1/19/2019. He was born 2/10/1928 in Oklahoma and raised in Okmulgee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 17 years, Ruth Kelly Mayo and his first wife of 47 years, Marjorie Nelson Mayo.
He is survived by his three children Scott Mayo, Melodie Mayo (Yvonne) and Jessica Doyle (Phil) and two grandchildren Lucas Caparelli (Sara) and Griffin Caparelli.
After a short stint in the Army, Bill went on to have a long and successful career in Satellite and Telecommunications technology. His profession took him around the globe and he loved to share stories about each continent. He spoke 6 languages, helpful in his worldwide travels.
He “discovered” and retired to the Northern Neck in 1990 and moved to Kilmarnock in 2015 to be closer to friends and the amenities found in town.
A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday 7/27/2019 at 10 AM at the Wicomico Parish Church in Wicomico Church, VA with a reception afterwards.
